You’ve been invited to join black iris

Not every photographer gets to this page. If you're here, it's because your work caught our attention — and we think you might be the right fit for what we're building.

Why we’re reaching out

Black Iris Productions is a Dallas-based boutique studio specializing in South Asian wedding photography and videography. Our clients come from all over — and they get married all over. When a Black Iris client books a wedding in your city, we need someone on the ground who can walk into that room and deliver exactly what we’d deliver ourselves.

That’s not a low bar. Our clients are paying for a standard of work that our creative director, Zahra Haider, personally oversees on every project — from the coverage plan to the final edit. We reached out to you because we think you can meet it.

What it means to be a black iris associate

Our storytellers are part of a small, intentional team — the people we trust to carry our creative vision into cities we can't always be in. When a Black Iris client books a wedding in your market, you're not just covering an event. You're representing a standard that our clients chose specifically.

That's a real responsibility. It's also a real affiliation — one that comes with recognition, resources, and a studio behind you that takes the work as seriously as you do.

The black iris standard

Inside: how we see light, how we build a frame, how we guide without posing, and how we move through a room without disrupting it. The Black Iris Standard covers the full spectrum — from technical camera settings and lens selection to the philosophy behind every composition decision we make. It is the document that keeps our work consistent across every city, every associate, every shoot.

The Iris awards

Each year, we recognize the associates whose work did not just meet our standard. It raised it. The Storyteller Awards are Black Iris's annual merit-based recognition program, selected by our creative director and awarded with a cash bonus. If your work is exceptional this year, we will find it.

  • The one frame from the entire year we could not scroll past. Awarded to the image where everything converged at once — the light, the geometry, the unrepeatable weight of a single second.

  • For the associate who saw the whole arc, not just the moments inside it. Awarded to the series where each frame set up the next and the story only worked because all of it was there.

  • The unrepeatable moment that no one else in the room was positioned to take. Awarded to the candid shot that proved instinct is its own kind of craft.

  • For the associate who arrived and immediately raised the bar. Awarded to the new voice whose first season left no question about where they belong.
